  • We advocate, liaise, and facilitate conversation in the rehearsal room or set. We focus on consent-based practices and boundaries for actors. • We have to acknowledge that “common sense” in the Theatre and Film industry are no longer common sense. Life informs our art form, and historically, entertainment can oftentimes take away actors’ personhood, and create harm and trauma from our rehearsal and filming practices. We must be inclusive, safe, and passionately anti-racist while uplifting minoritized voices, stories, and artists. Keeping theatre informed means adapting our practices to fit the needs of today. It is okay to change practices if they’ve been here for so long.

Intimacy Directors and the work that we do are currently leading this act of change within the industry, and we encourage you all to be a part of it.
